Blaine, Wash. – Jonathan Larson of Bellingham, Wash. shot a 1-under par 71 in the second round of the 16th Washington Men’s Mid-Amateur, held this week at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club in Blaine, Wash. Larson’s second round stretched his lead to six shots over Reid Hatley and Jon McCaslin, a day after Larson carded a six-under par 66 during the first round.

The three-day stroke-play championship is being conducted by Washington Golf.

After bogeying his second hole Tuesday, Larson avoided further danger through streak of 10 straight pars, with birdies on Nos. 13 and 18 bringing him back into red figures for a second day in a row.

Larson recently finished his senior season at The Masters University in Santa Clarita, California, where he was named a finalist for the 2025 NAIA Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award.

The list of players under par for the championship shrank from five to two during the second round, comprising only Larson, Hatley and McCaslin. McCaslin’s low second-round 69 was the only score of the day below 70. After tomorrow’s second round, the field will be cut to the low 60 and ties, who will then compete in the final round on Wednesday, July 23.
